NAC for Seasonal Allergies

Clincally, N-acetylcysteine (a.ka. NAC) has been useful for a number of purposes. NAC helps replenish glutathione, one of the bodies most vital antioxidants. The ability to raise glutathione levels makes it useful for many important areas of function such as liver, kidney, cardiovascular, brain, endocrine, & reproductive health (1).

One issue that I have found NAC to be very useful is for seasonal allergies. 500-1000 mg per day of NAC has helped patients reduce their seasonal allergy symptoms without having to rely on oral and nasal medications that can be harmful when taken on a daily basis. In fact there have been some animal and human in-virto studies that have shown NAC to be helpful in down-regulating or reducing allergy related inflammation (2,3).

If you are suffer from seasonal allergies, NAC may be a good ally in your battle against seasonal allergies, while also being beneficial for your overall health. Of course, always consult a qualified health professional before changing or modifying your treatments.
